Maktoob Media is a media initiative based in Kerala state, India. It was founded in March, 2014, aiming at democratization of news beyond borders and deep in to the nerves of society. Maktoob publishes news and features in regional language, Malayalam and English.
In the recent decades, media ownership had concentrated in the hands of few corporations and conglomerates. This has lead to a narrowing of range of voices and opinions being expressed. And here, Maktoob is trying to make a change. We believe in creating a space for relevant citizen journalism. So we stay closer to the social media updates of general public, where they report their concern, which lead to breaking news and active discussions. Environmental Issues, Caste Oppression, Political Conflicts, Cultural and Creative Discussions; Threads are endless and we believe, spreading these words does make a change.
Maktoob Media showcases continuous efforts to empower individual citizen and promote democratic ideals through the spread of accurate and humanized editorial content. We believe in supporting the downtrodden society. The Caste, Class conflicts of diverse Indian society is given utmost editorial importance and we stand against the fascist ideologies.
As a media platform, Maktoob Media is firmly committed to the secular and democratic values. Through news, views, analyses and interactivity, Maktoob provides readers with a composite unbiased picture of the world around them.
